Grape - Gruner Veltliner
Where - Weinland, Austria
What - Anna and Martin Arndorfer are advocates of low intervention practices. They grow grapes over their 8-hectare site in keeping with organic methods. Their terroir is everything and you'll struggle to find two winemakers putting as much effort into protecting their environment as these two. They're biodynamic pioneers in the region and produce some of the best Gruner coming out of Austria, for sure.
The Gruner grapes are hand-harvested at night to preserve freshness and fermented using wild yeasts at very low temperatures. Once vinified, the wine is left to settle and further aged in stainless steel. Naturally, the juice is bottled unfined, unfiltered and with only the tiniest amount of SO2 added.
The Handmade Gruner is a classic example of a mineral-driven, biodynamic Austrian wine. Notes of red apple, melon, steel and flint dominate with a soft and slightly savoury finish. Paired with a spicy dish, this wine absolutely bangs. We're stoked to stock it.
Cloudy, crunchy, flinty. Vegan. Organic. Low intervention. 12% ABV.
