Grape - Siegerrebe/Pinot Noir/Pinot Meunier
Where - Herefordshire, England
What - Black Mountain are a small, family run estate nestled in the beautiful hills of Herefordshire. Over the last few years, they have pioneered the art of making small-batch, English natural wine. They put a huge amount of care into looking after their soils and keeping their practice as sustainable as possible. This is not an easy feat in Western England.
The Black Mountain Col Fondo is an all natural, cloudy sparkling wine produced from small parcels of organically cultivated Siegerrebe, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The grapes are gently pressed and lightly macerated on skins before spontaneous fermentation in steel. Before the end of the fermentation, the wine is transferred into crown caps to allow for a natural carbonation.
This stuff is seriously addictive. It is alive with bold flavours of apple juice, lemon sherbert, elderflower and ginger biscuits.
Fresh, vibrant, moreish. Vegan. Organic. Low intervention. 10% ABV.
