What - The Baglio Antico Catarrato is the catalyst to an orange wine obsession.
 
The Vesco family have been at their winery in Sicily for over a decade now, and in this time they have put a whole new spin on traditional viticulture. We're talking innovative new technology and wild bottling techniques. They're certified organic and are perfectly placed for producing high-quality grapes; south-east facing slopes, sunny hills and sandy soils!
 
These expertly grown grapes are macerated for a few weeks on their skins before wild yeast fermentation. It's then bottled with no fining, no filtration and no sulphur making it a totally natural orange wine. 
 
The resulting Baglio Antico Catarrato is big on grapefruit and huge on herbs. It's in no way as crazy as some of the other orange wines we stock, but it's impressively tasty for the relatively low price. The aromas are really interesting; think citrus pith, spiced apple and fresh pear. 
 
It pairs well with coconut-based curries or creamy pasta dishes. Drink it straight from the fridge and enjoy over time as it warms naturally and opens up its aromas even more.
