What - Chateau Musar was the first Lebanese winery to achieve organic certification, though they are revered for using organic methods for over 6000 years of viticulture. The Bekaa Valley is a beautiful place to call home, with mountainous, coastal vineyards that inspire some of the best wine in the world.
With an average of 300 days of sunshine across the year, Chateau Musar is blessed with wonderfully ripe grapes to work with. They are true low intervention advocates, leaving their vineyards pretty much untouched until harvest. The same goes for the winemaking process as all the wine they produce is free from fining, filtration and sulphites.
The Musar Jeune 2018 vintage is a very impressive, great-value wine with loads of juicy, sunny character. It has been crafted by the head winemaker - Tarek Sakr - to be part of their more approachable range of wines. It remains totally un-oaked, so you get a real sense of the high-quality fruit. Cinsualt, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon together make for a richly blueberry wine, with blackberry and stewed plum notes to match the dark fruit vibe evoked.
A very balanced wine with light spice and freshness, weighing in as a stunning medium-bodied red.
