Grape - Grenache Blanc, Verdelho, Grenache Gris
Where - Western Cape, South Africa
What - De Kleine Wijn Koöp began life as a bunch of friends making easy-going wines with rad labels, but after drafting in Wynand Grobler as head winemaker, things got REAL. Now, they're churning out some properly refined, special South African wines that impress every time.
The Droë Wit is a delicious example of Wyland's expertise and experience. The grapes are grown from the decomposed Table Mountain sandstone shale unique to Franschhoek. The majority of the hand-harvested grapes are spontaneously fermented in stainless steel, with a small selection fermented in old French oak before blending. As with all De Kleine Wijn Koöp, the juice is bottled unfined, unfiltered and with minimal sulphite addition.
This is a tropical, vibey wine that is full to the brim with ripe mango, peach and apricot notes on the nose. You'll notice the freshness and how vibrant the acidity is, with a zippy mouthfeel and pineapple yoghurt flavours giving it a touch of weight.
Fresh, vibrant, sunshine. Vegan. Low intervention. Organic. ABV 13%.
