Grape - Mourvedre
Where - Swartland, South Africa
What - From one of the newest wineries going, we're bringing the El Bandito Mourvedre to the table. Craig and Carla Hawkins started out their journey in 2008, aiming to use natural varieties to make fun, delicious low intervention wine.
They now have fifteen-hectares of vineyards spanning both granite and sandstone soils. They've been praised for their authentic, artisan approach that produces an unrivaled consistency.
The 2020 vintage comes from the granite soils and underwent whole bunch fermentation before maturing in French oak.
You've got all sorts of tasty flavours going on in this banging natural red. Notes of mint, violet and red pepper with grippy ol' tannins.
Textured, fun, badass. Vegan. Low intervention. Organic certified. Minimal sulphites. ABV 12.5%.
