Grape - Nebbiolo
Where - Piemonte, Italy
What - Right at the Southern tip of the Barolo region you'll find Ferdinando Principiano. Here, the vineyard benefits from the wild climate of surrounding Alta Langhe environment that makes for balanced wines. Back in 2003, Ferdinando decided to convert his winery to organic and low intervention. Since then, he's been employing a hands-off approach that has proved perfect for producing purer Barolo expressions that stand out in the natural wine world. We're here for it.
For this Barolo, high-quality, organic Nebbiolo grapes are hand-harvested in early October and fermented naturally on wild yeasts. The juice is bottled unfined, unfiltered and with minimal sulphite, then aged for two years in old oak barrels.
This is a hugely vibrant and expressive Barolo. The tannins are ridiculously smooth and you can expect complex, delicious fruit notes of blackberry, redcurrant and raspberry before leading onto leather, spice and balsamic on the finish.
Expressive, fruity, smooth. Vegan. Low intervention. Organic practicing. ABV 13.5%.
