What - From Sunday are doing some pretty awesome things over in Australia. Like us, they stay as far away as they possibly can from pretension and focus on the fun aspects of the wine world. Their mission; to make wine that is all about the enjoyment. They even get their kids to design the labels.
The "Carbonic' Pinot Gris is so-called because of the carbonic maceration that it has undergone. Pinot Gris grapes were hand-harvested from, funnily enough, plots in Orange, New South Wales. The grapes have been fermented completely on their skins for the full duration, leaving the juice with this incredibly deep copper colour.
The From Sunday "Carbonic" is beautifully balanced and tastes as close to apple and blackcurrant crumble as you're ever going to get. Blackberry, apricot and coriander are also present on the palate, with a moreish finish when drank cold from the fridge. This is a really great, drinkable orange wine.
Fruity, vibrant, zingy. Vegan. Low intervention. Organic practicing. ABV 11.5%.
