Grape - Muller Thurgau
Where - Wagram, Austria
What - Eschenhof Holzer is passionate for low intervention, experimental winemaking. He's a young fella with heaps of passion for experimentation. He's not at all afraid to push winemaking boundaries and raise a few eyebrows with his techniques. He has a lot of fun and we love to see what drops each year.
The Holzer Invaders Orange was accidentally born from a batch of Muller Thurgau that he left the grape skins on for too long (...21 days too long!). But, the resulting wine was delicious and he hasn't looked back. All is vinified and aged in stainless steel before bottling unfined, unfiltered and with minimal sulphite.
Eschenhof is well ahead of the game and the Invaders is a really great way to experience what he's all about. This is light, hazy orange with depthy notes of lemon, hops, grapefruit and passionfruit. On a summer day, this is the perfect funky sipper.
Hazy, rounded, tropical. Vegan. Organic. Low intervention. 12.5% ABV.
