Grape - Chenin Blanc

Where - Sacramento Valley, USA

What - We've been craving a really decent Californian white wine for a while, so when the Inconnu came along it was pure serendipity. Laura Brennan Bissell moved to the Bay area when she was twenty-two in pursuit of a tattooing career, but quickly turned to other opportunities when she developed a love for authentic food and low intervention wine whilst on a trip to Barcelona.

She was immediately hooked on sustainable winemaking after undertaking internships with some of the region's most passionate producers. Soon, she was creating her own wines by leasing out small strips of vineyards just off of the Sacramento River. Natural, low intervention methods are extremely important to her ethos, only using natural yeasts, low amounts of sulphite and only a slight touch of oak.

She's one to watch and we're super stoked to have her 2018 Chenin on our shelves. It's fresh, bright and great-value for a wine with so much passion injected into it. On the nose, you're treated to toasty notes, haylage and citrus, whilst the palate beams with lemon, stone fruit elderflower and full-bodied funk.

Fresh, funky, unique. Vegan. Low intervention. Organic practicing. ABV 12%.
