Grape - Zweigelt, St Laurent
Where - Burgenland, Austria
What - Last time we got Judith Beck's Ink in, it sold out before we could get it online. Safe to say this producer has a super cool cult following of natural wine lovers.
The Judith Beck winery is based in one of the warmest areas of Austria which is ideal for big red wines. You might think the Ink would take on this bolshy personality, but it is surprisingly (and thankfully) light, bright, fresh and juicy.
Grapes are harvested from biodynamic vineyards in this Burgenland winery hotspot. They rely fully on the rhythms of the moon for every aspect of the process. Healthy soils are maintained with homemade composts and herbal remedies. This wine is as natural as it gets; no fining, no filtration, no sulphur. Banging.
Dark fruits are the initial aromas, with light spice and summer berries doing their thing on the palate. The Judith Beck Ink is a natural must-try.
Juicy, fresh, lively. Vegan. Low intervention. Organic. Biodynamic. ABV 12.5%
