Grape - Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc
Where - Gippsland, Australia
What - It was during Patrick Sullivan's childhood that he developed a desire to work with wine, travelling all over Australia including a brief stop off in Heathcote just as Shiraz was really starting to pop off. The Jumpin' Juice range is a collaboration between him and Xavier Goodridge, two huge Aussie talents, and aims to produce juicy, fresh, unpretentious expressions of the grapes they both love.
The 'Half Full' is a bit of a hybrid wine, mixing the pair's favourite red and white grapes. The varying soils and weather conditions of the individual vineyards create a massively diverse and unique style of wines. The vineyards are all farmed biodynamically with the ultimate care. To make the 'Half Full', the grapes were partially destemmed before a short maceration. The juice was then fermented in a mixture of clay and stainless steel tanks, before being bottled unfined, unfiltered and with only a touch of sulphite.
You can immediately see how light this natural red is. Totally translucent, it's got borderline rosé vibes. The main fruit is absolutely cherry, but it doesn't stop there, with peach and strawberry coming through in a proper summer medley. A touch of blackcurrant from the Shiraz and a general feeling of funk, this is a textured wine just to glug and enjoy, no slurping and swilling necessary.
Fruity, juicy, easy. Vegan. Low intervention. Organic. Biodynamic. ABV 12.5%.
