Grape - Pinot Gris
Where - Kojsko, Slovenia
What - Chances are you've heard one of us raving about natural Eastern European orange wine, so it won't come as any surprise that the Kmetija Stekar Sivi has soared straight to the top of our favourites list.
This winery has been producing wine since 1672 and is now run by the amazing Janko and Tamara who are continuing the legacy of biodynamic winemaking in Brda. Their south-facing steep sloped vineyards are protected from the elements which contributes a signature freshness to their natural wines.
Pinot Gris grapes have undergone 12 hours of skin-contact for Stekar's "Sivi" which gives the juice a temptingly rich orange colour. Underripe apricot, freshly picked peach and pink grapefruit flavours all come through with good acidity and a gluggable freshness. The skin-contact also offers a touch of spice and marmalade crunch.
Fresh, stone fruits, spiced. Vegan. Low intervention. Organic practicing. Biodynamic. ABV 12.5%.
