Grapes - Cot (Malbec)
Where - Puy du Loire, France
What - This is a really great start if you want an introduction into the world of naturally produced red wines. This gluggable little number is the work of Earl La Pepiere.
Small parcels of organically cultivated Cot - otherwise known as Malbec - are harvested by hand. At the winery, the grapes are destemmed and fermented in small clusters using wild yeasts in stainless steel. After a gentle press, the resulting wine is aged for 5 months before bottling with no fining or filtration. This is a proper summer red bursting with notes of raspberry, red cherries, brambles, blueberry and black pepper.
Light, summery, charming. Vegan. Organic. Low intervention. 12% ABV.
