Grape – Triomphe d’Alsace
Where – Wiltshire, England
What – We are extremely excited to be stocking the new treasures from Wiltshire-based Offbeat Wines. The Wild Juice Chase is a fun, juicy number made with 100% Triomphe d’Alsace grapes grown in the Hampshire countryside. If you’re not intrigued, you should be. This producer has proven their worth in the challenging world of English winemaking with their new 2020 drop.
The grapes were handpicked as bunches and sealed in a stainless steel vat for five days. Before a delicate pressing, the grapes were macerated and left to ferment for a further eight days. They left a small amount of sugar during the bottling process to ensure fermentation continued over the winter months when the wine was eventually hand disgorged to remove any heavy deposits. The result is an excellent red pet nat and, as with all wines by these guys, they’re unfined, unfiltered and no sulphites have been added.
The Offbeat Wild Juice Chase is a real summer treat. It’s beaming with ripe red fruit and juicy blackcurrant. It’s a real juice bomb and erupts with elderberry flavours. It’s best drank straight from the fridge and opens up wonderfully as it warms.
Gluggable, fruity, joyous. Vegan. Low intervention. Organic practicing. ABV 10.5%.
