Grape - Gamay
Where - Stellenbosch, South Africa
What - Radford Dale's Thirst collection of wines are vinified with the idea of creating thirst-quenching juice that is completely untouched by intervention. If you're on the hunt for a bottle of red to smash in one sitting, you've found it. This Gamay is so light and translucent it could pass as Ribena. And it's just as easy to drink.
Radford Dale are all about low intervention winemaking. Like us, they believe that too much manipulation can take all the character out of a wine, so their Thirst range is left totally to its own accord during the making process.
The grapes are kept low to the ground on their vines and away from direct sunlight which keeps things fresh and bright. A strong acidity also remains, alongside floral and fruity notes. One bottle is never enough!
Although the body of this Gamay is light, a huge amount of flavour is still present. Juicy tannins and a crunchy texture are instantly noticeable, with flavours of ripe cherry, rosemary, tea leaf, beef tomato and raspberry coulis coming through on every level. This is the wine for converting rosé only drinkers to the red side.
Light, fresh, fruity. Vegan. Low intervention. Organic practicing. ABV 12%.
