Grape - Barbera/Aglianico/Montepulciano/Cinsault/Carignan
Where - Dunnigan Hills, California, USA
What - California is infamous for producing huge quantities of top-end Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Chardonnay, but rarely do Italian varieties get a look in. Steve Matthiasson seeks to twist things up with his Tendu wines by selecting small parcels of sustainably grown Italian varieties and we love to see it.
Each grape is vinified in stainless steel with no added sulphite before blending and ageing in old neutral oak. Each wine is bottled in lightweight, American-made bottles and capped with eco-friendly, biodegradable corks. At every step, Steve is conscious of using the most sustainable methods that seek to protect the unique terroir of the California plots.
The Tendu Red is a super bright, natural red wine perfect for a summer BBQ. Enjoy racy notes of sour cherry, raspberry sherbert, violet, tealeaf, cedar and almonds. It's nice and light with juicy vibes all-round but remains complex enough that it won't simply disappear as soon as it's opened!
Racy, fruity, refreshing. Vegan. Organic. Low intervention. 12% ABV.
