Grape - Chenin Blanc
Where - Swartland, South Africa
What - Alright pals, brace yourselves for an absolute banger of a skin-contact Chenin Blanc. We a-d-o-r-e Testalonga and have heaps of love for their hands-off, forward-thinking winemaking that is so far ahead of the trends in South Africa. Craig and Carla Hawkins started Testalonga back in 2008 from the sunny Mediterranean climate of Swartland and we're so damn glad they did. From the very first vintage, they've been gaining worldwide attention from natural wine lovers who care more about authenticity than the whiney rules of the wine authorities.
For the Baby Bandito Stay Brave, Chenin grapes are hand-harvested, pressed in whole bunches and wild fermented with eleven days of skin-contact. The result is a beautiful orange wine with floral, citrus aromas. Popping the cork really is a salivation fest, trust. On the palate is more fruit and a light minerality. You can expect flavourful notes of lemon, orange, slate and sage.
Fruity, mineral, citrus. Vegan. Low intervention. Organic practicing. ABV 11.5%.
