Grape - Barbera
Where - Piedmont, Italy
What - With only 771 bottles of the Piemonte Barbera in existence, it's safe to say we're pretty excited to have this wine on our shelves. It's been a smash hit so far and, as well as being rare, it's beyond delicious too.
Hand-picked grapes were initially sorted into two groups; the best quality followed by the cleanest. The former were left as whole-bunch and the latter de-stemmed before fermentation in 500-litre French oak barrels. The wine rested over winter in stainless steel before bottling unfined, unfiltered and with minimal sulphite. The result; a proper, natural Barbera.
The first aroma that hits with this wine is the classic Bakewell Tart, though this complex wine offers far more than just that! There's a depth of forest fruit; blackberry, sloe and redcurrant. It's rich and textured with a lengthy finish. A complete knock-out.
Rich, complex, textured. Vegan. Organic practicing. Low intervention. ABV 14%.
