Grape - Pinot Noir

Where - Upper Hemel-en-Aarde, South Africa

What - You will not believe this wine is real. It has descended from another planet as the drink of Gods.

Alexander is the fourth generation of Griers to make wine at Villiera Wines. The Stand Alone is a "back to basics" wine for Xander who has a long history of extravagant winemaking all over the world. This wine is anything but basic, however, with complexity derived from split whole bunch fermentation.

As with any perfect Pinot, it's immediately fruit-forward. Big, red fruit is the dominating flavour with cherry, strawberry and cranberry shining through to start. Liquorice, cacao, blood orange pith and star anise follow, but this wine really is a must-try to see what you manage to pick up during tasting.

Crunchy, fresh, flavourful. Vegan. Low intervention. ABV 13.5%.
