What - Loxarel consistently smashes out proper good biodynamic wines from their innovative winery over in the Penédes region of Spain. Born from the brain of Josep Mitjans, who made his first batch of Cava aged 16, the team have now diversified into the world of biodynamic winemaking. 
 
The A Pél Negre is a Grenache/Merlot blend that has spent three-months in 500-litre barrels before a further three-months in impressive 720-litre clay amphoras. It seeks to really bring forward the terroir of the grapes; 250-metres above sea level! It's bottled unfined, unfiltered and without sulphites. 
 
The resulting wine is a beaut dark red colour that screams ripe cherries. It's hugely complex and intense with a rollercoaster of flavours to be found. Black fruit, hazelnut and almond really shine through with easygoing tannins.
