Grape - Sauvignon Blanc, Picpoul, Grenache Blanc
Where - Rhone Valley, France
What - Xavier Vignon has a worldwide reputation for producing wine at some of the best Châteauneuf-du-Pape domains in the Rhone Valley. In 2002 he began making wine under his own name and what a damn treat it's been. He's not interested in making anything weird or wacky, just properly good wine from high-quality grapes.
His Le Petit Blanc includes grapes blended from various sites across the region which are mainly planted on limestone, clayey soils. They are fermented in stainless steel after a cold fermentation.
The resulting juicy is crisp, rich and mineral with big glugging potential. It's a pale straw colour with immediate aromas of citrus and pineapple. On the palate, it opens up with minerals, lime peel and a more complex array of tropical fruits.
Pale, crisp, juicy. Vegan. ABV 12%.
