Grape - Tempranillo
Where - Castille Y Leon, Spain
What - Alfredo Maestro is a rebellious winemaker practicing in a traditional area of Spain more commonly known as Ribera del Duero. With that said, Alfredo likes to source some of his fruit from outside the region so all his wines are declassified, but he's not the sort of winemaker to care about these things too much.

The Valdecastrillo is crafted from 100% organic Tempranillo. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel with wild yeasts before ageing in secondhand French oak for 12 months. The wines are bottled unfined, unfiltered and with a minimal amount of sulphite added.

This is a punchy, powerful, knock your socks off kind of Tempranillo with notes of kirsch, cherries, spice, leather and mocha. It's a boozy wine that's big on everything; body, tannins, acidity, flavour. If you've got a chunky casserole, Roast Dinner or steak dish to pair something with, the Valdecastrillo is your wine.

Big, chocolatey, indulgent. Organic. Low intervention. 15% ABV.
