What - Quinta Javali is a small 14 hectare estate headed up by Jose Antonio Mendes. Situated on the northern bank of the Douro valley the estate was famed for its classic, gutsy aging reds. However, after travels in France and Galicia, J A saw the passion and flare modern winemakers were showing for the lighter low intervention style.
 
Today the estate is the first biodynamic estate in the Douro, managed by only people, horses and tilled by wild pigs (hence the name). This crunchy little red is vibrant and juicy with notes of blueberry, sour cherry, green apple and sweet spice. Best served slightly chilled.
